Startup CPG Newswire:
Unrefined Foods Reaches Production Milestone, Announces Fundraising Round

PRESS RELEASE — NEWS PROVIDED BY Melissa Bermudez for Unrefined Foods

AMESBURY, MA (November 2025)Unrefined Foods, a Massachusetts-based farm-to-freezer breakfast company, announced it has produced its 15,000th stone-milled muffin and opened an Angel fundraising round in preparation for expanded distribution ahead of back-to-school 2026.

The milestone marks significant progress for the company, which launched in 2024 with a mission to make nutrient-dense options accessible to busy families. Unrefined Foods currently operates in six retail locations across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island, moving 50 cases monthly through independent grocers, specialty food stores, and their own direct-to-consumer logistics operation.

“Reaching 15,000 muffins represents more than production volume. It validates that families want convenience without compromising on nutrition or ingredient transparency,” said Melissa Bermudez, Founder and CEO of Unrefined Foods. “We’re building a farm-to-freezer system that connects regenerative agriculture directly to the frozen aisle, giving families a versatile option that works for breakfast, snacks or lunch.”

The company is now raising an Angel round to support the transition from founder-led production to co-manufacturing partnerships scheduled for early 2026, enabling the company to scale operations and expand distribution throughout New England and the Mid-Atlantic.

Unrefined Foods addresses what the company calls the empty-calorie problem dominating the snack aisle. While most shelf-stable snacks rely on refined flour and sugar, Unrefined Foods uses 100 percent stone-milled whole wheat and real fruits and vegetables. Each muffin contains at least 5 grams of protein and fiber with no refined sugar, positioning the product as an alternative to both traditional frozen breakfast items and packaged snack bars.

The company is seeking connections to early-stage CPG investors and advisors with experience in frozen food distribution, regenerative agriculture supply chains, or mission-driven consumer brands. Interested parties can reach out directly through the Unrefined Foods website.

The transition to co-manufacturing represents a strategic inflection point for Unrefined Foods as it moves from pilot-stage operations to scalable production infrastructure. The timing aligns with the company’s goal to establish broader retail presence during the high-volume back-to-school season in 2026.
