Startup CPG Newswire:
Sauce Leopard Releases Two New Sauces
PRESS RELEASE — NEWS PROVIDED BY Shaun Goodwin for Sauce Leopard
ASBURY PARK, NJ ( JULY 2025) – Sauce Leopard, the award-winning, all-natural hot sauce company, known for its bold flavors and rock and roll-inspired branding, proudly announces two new additions to its lineup: The 13th Floor and the first-ever University of Colorado hot sauce.
The 13th Floor is a ghost-pepper forward sauce made with apricots, pomegranates, bananas and toasted coconut. The concept is a nod to the great psych rock pioneers, The 13th Floor Elevators. It is now the hottest sauce in Sauce Leopard’s year-round line.
“Every winter we release a limited batch of ‘Homegrown Hell’, a superhot sauce made with peppers grown in our home gardens,” says founder and chef, Shaun Goodwin. “We used apricot as the base of the 2023 Homegrown Hell and the sweet, tart fruit flavor complimented the capsaicin-forward flavor of our homegrown peppers nicely.”
Running with that sauce’s positive reception, Sauce Leopard experimented with adding another layer of flavor to the recipe, with plans to make the sauce a year-round offering. “Toasted coconut turned out to be the perfect addition,” says Goodwin. “Heatonist, the creators of the hit show Hot Ones, liked the flavor enough to include it in their April 2025 subscription box, thus The 13th Floor was born!”
Pairing suggestions include grilled meats and veggies, pork tenderloin, shrimp and scallops, sweet potato fries and charcuterie.
Sauce Leopard owners Shaun and Michael Goodwin are both University of Colorado alumni, and the Colorado Buffaloes Mango Habanero sauce is an appreciative nod to their alma mater.
“Boulder is a very active community, and we wanted a sauce that would work well for outdoor lifestyles, and for tailgates and backyard parties,” says Michael Goodwin, Sauce Leopard’s marketing director. “This mango habanero sauce is versatile—for instance, just as solid on wings as in a spicy margarita—and has the balanced heat and flavor profile we were looking for to fit this purpose.”
The Colorado Buffaloes sauce is available in Boulder campus markets, in the Sauce Leopard web store, and will soon be available in select Colorado retailers.
Founded in 2020, Sauce Leopard has grown into a major player in the craft hot sauce world with the success of sauces like The Road Dawg (a versatile red chili garlic sauce) and The Seventh Reaper (a spin on an Argentine red chimichurri), which was featured on Season 18 of the YouTube show, Hot Ones.
