PRESS RELEASE — NEWS PROVIDED BY Sabah Ashraf for House of Kajaana

New York, N.Y. (2024)House of Kajaana™—the hand-crafted, whole ingredient plant-based, Indian-inspired frozen meals brand—is bringing its mission of accessible, joyful nourishment to 125 Whole Foods Market freezers across the US. This launch, paired with UNFI distribution as an UpNext brand, allows House of Kajaana™ to build its presence across multiple regions—less than one year since its retail launch.

Whole Foods Market shoppers in the Southern Pacific, Northeast, and Southwest regions can now find House of Kajaana’s™ first collection of three meals in their local freezer section. These meals were developed by the highly acclaimed Chef Anita Jaisinghani of Pondicheri Restaurant fame and crafted with beloved Indian flavor profiles in mind. Each 100% plant-based meal is Non-GMO Project Verified, rich in fiber, and free from gluten, seed oils, dairy, and soy:
Cauliflower Tikka Masala with Pea and Cumin Basmati Rice: The award-winning creamy tikka masala with turmeric roasted cauliflower delivers 9g of plant protein and provides an elevated, nutritional take on one of America’s most beloved Indian dishes.
Roasted Butternut Saag with Bright Tomato Basmati Rice: An homage to the classic Saag Paneer, with spinach, mustard greens, and butternut squash offers 10g of plant protein in a complete meal.
Coconut Malabar Curry with Pumpkin Seed Basmati Rice: A ginger-forward curry with roasted vegetables and 9g plant protein with pumpkin seeds and spinach is an ode to Southern Indian cuisine.

“There is a growing desire for delicious ready-to-eat frozen meals and many consumers are no longer willing to compromise when it comes to their health. People are becoming more conscious of ingredient lists and also excluding seed oils,” said House of Kajaana’s™ Founder and CEO, Sabah Ashraf. “House of Kajaana’s™ entry into Whole Foods Market freezers makes plant-forward, multicultural meal options more accessible to these consumers—and critically brings novelty to a category ripe for innovation.” Ashraf and her all-woman team believe that this launch has the potential to set a new standard for health across the entire frozen section.

House of Kajaana’s™ multiregional Whole Foods Market launch marks the beginning of national distribution for the WBENC Certified brand, with strategic plans for further expansion in 2025.
