SHORT STORY Wins 2026 Startup CPG Shelfie Award for Hydration
PRESS RELEASE — NEWS PROVIDED BY Danielle Nuss for Short Story
DENVER, CO (SEPTEMBER 2026) – Short Story, a daily electrolyte drink mix made with five recognizable ingredients, has been named a 2026 Startup CPG Shelfie Award winner in the Hydration category for its Lemon Electrolyte Drink Mix.
The sixth annual Shelfie Awards recognized 46 winners after Startup CPG judges sampled more than 2,000 products across food, beverage, health and wellness, and other consumer packaged goods categories. Short Story was selected as one of two winners in the Hydration category.
In announcing the award, Startup CPG highlighted what Short Story set out to do differently: make electrolytes with real ingredients and without added sugar or natural flavors. The judges summed it up simply: “And wouldn’t you know? That’s all you need!”
“We started Short Story because we wanted an electrolyte we could drink every day made from ingredients we actually recognized,” said Danielle Nuss, co-founder of Short Story. “Winning a Shelfie Award this early in our journey is incredibly meaningful, especially because the things the judges recognized are exactly what we set out to do differently.”
Short Story was born after Danielle began drinking electrolytes regularly during her second pregnancy and started paying closer attention to the labels of the products she was consuming. Unable to find an option that matched what she was looking for, she began making her own at home.
Today, Short Story makes a Lemon Electrolyte Drink Mix with five ingredients: organic coconut water, organic lemon, magnesium, Himalayan pink salt, and organic monk fruit. The family-founded company launched in 2026 with a focus on simple, everyday hydration and is currently available direct-to-consumer and at local markets, with plans to expand into retail.
