Startup CPG Newswire:
UMAMI GRANOLA Launches the First Cantonese Breakfast Granola for AAPI Heritage Month

PRESS RELEASE — NEWS PROVIDED BY Cindy Lam for UMAMI GRANOLA

NEW YORK, NY (MAY 2026)UMAMI GRANOLA, the first Cantonese breakfast granola, launches during AAPI Heritage Month with two small-batch blends drawn from the culinary traditions of Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

No granola has been drawn from Cantonese culinary tradition. UMAMI GRANOLA was created by a first-generation Cantonese American founder who recognized that the savory umami of dim sum and the floral sweetness of tong sui had never been brought to granola.

Asian and ethnic food categories are growing nearly four times faster than overall grocery, according to Circana’s 2025-2026 Food and Beverage Outlook. The granola aisle has not had a brand drawn from Cantonese culinary tradition.

UMAMI GRANOLA launches with two blends, each carrying a distinct Cantonese tradition. Dau-Si-Do, a savory umami granola with fermented black soybeans, hoisin and fresh ginger, draws from the morning ritual of yum cha and dim sum. Dragon-Eyed Wolf, a floral sweetness granola with goji berries, longan and condensed milk, draws from Cantonese sweet soup tradition.

“Cantonese culinary tradition is how I understand food. The savory depth of dim sum and the gentle sweetness of tong sui were always present in my family’s kitchen, and those traditions deserve to be here,” said Cindy Lam, founder of UMAMI GRANOLA.

Both blends are produced in small batches in Brooklyn. UMAMI GRANOLA is available at umamigranola.com, with single 8oz pouches at $16 and the Signature Duo (one of each blend) at $32.
