Mujo Launches Lemna Leaf Protein Powder
PRESS RELEASE — NEWS PROVIDED BY Kinga Wilewska for Mujo
CHICAGO, IL (OCTOBER 2026) – Mujo has opened pre-orders for Mujo Protein Powder, the first protein powder with Lemna leaf protein as its main protein. It arrives in a year when whey, the protein most powders are built on, has more than tripled in wholesale price. Mujo’s powder starts from a different source altogether: rubisco, the protein inside every green leaf, grown on water in Texas by Plantible Foods and sold as Rubi Protein.
Rubisco is the protein plants use to capture carbon dioxide, and it is the most abundant protein on Earth. A 2019 estimate in PNAS put the global total at more than 80 kilograms for every person alive. Almost none of it reaches a plate, because an ordinary leaf holds very little protein and it is hard to separate from the rest of the plant. Lemna changes this. Each plant is a single floating leaf a few millimetres wide, with no stalk or trunk, and it doubles roughly every 48 hours. Plantible grows it on a 140-acre farm in Eldorado, Texas, and extracts the protein. On PDCAAS, the protein quality score used on US nutrition labels, Plantible reports 1.0 for Rubi Protein. That is the top of the scale, where whey, casein and egg sit.
“Everyone is looking for more protein, and most of it comes from the same place. The most common protein on Earth is in every green leaf, and until recently you couldn’t buy a scoop of it. We wanted to put it somewhere people would look forward to it, so it’s vanilla, it’s creamy, and the ingredient list is short and transparent, ” said Kinga Wilewska, the founder of Mujo.
“Kinga and the Mujo team are exactly the kind of partner we love to work with. Most brands follow, where Mujo leads, because they care about improving health and nutrition. Our food system still runs on outdated ingredients chosen thousands of years ago, and changing that takes founders willing to lead. Mujo’s approach is the kind of innovation the world needs to restore balance across our environment, our health and our society, and we’re proud Rubi is at the heart of it,” adds Tony Martens, co-founder of Plantible Foods.
The powder
Each serving of Mujo Protein Powder has 22g of protein, 0g of sugar and 120 calories. Lemna leaf protein is the first ingredient, paired with organic yellow pea protein. It is flavoured with Madagascar vanilla bean and sweetened with monk fruit. It is vegan, free from gluten, dairy and soy, and made in the USA. A 450g pouch holds 15 servings and costs $45 at mujoworld.com. Orders placed now ship by November 19, within the United
States.
